Built in Chicago, for freight that moves America.
We're a small team of logistics and optimization engineers solving a real operations problem: mid-market shippers paying enterprise prices — or running dispatch on spreadsheets — because nothing in between exists.
Marcus O'Connor started Routevein in 2025 after watching mid-market shippers leave money on the floor.
Before founding Routevein, Marcus spent eight years working in freight operations and logistics technology, including stints at a regional 3PL and a TMS software vendor serving mid-market carriers. The pattern he saw repeatedly: shippers with 300–2,000 weekly stops who couldn't afford an Oracle OTM implementation ($500K+) but had outgrown Excel dispatch. They were paying 3PL management fees or running half-empty trucks because they lacked the routing intelligence to do better.
The routing algorithms existed — VRP/VRPTW is well-studied. The connectors existed — EDI 204/990 is standard. What didn't exist was a product that combined both at a price point accessible to a $75M freight spend. Routevein is that product.
Routevein was founded in Chicago in 2025 and received angel backing in April 2026 to accelerate TMS integrations and grow the pilot program.

"The VRP algorithm has existed since 1959. Every enterprise TMS vendor has one. The gap was never the math — it was the $500K implementation, the 9-month onboarding, and the IT team requirement. We removed all three."
Route optimization below enterprise price points — without the implementation project.
Routevein's goal is to make the same VRP/VRPTW solver quality that enterprise shippers pay six-figure licensing fees for accessible to any freight team running 500+ stops a week. No 9-month implementation. No dedicated IT team required. EDI-native from day one. We're not trying to replace Oracle OTM. We're building the mid-market product that Oracle OTM's pricing excluded.
Small team. Deep freight domain.

Located at the center of North American freight.
Our office is at 150 North Riverside Plaza in the Chicago Loop — a deliberate choice. Chicago is the #1 rail freight hub in the United States, with I-90/I-94 (Dan Ryan / Tri-State) and I-55 (Stevenson) freight corridors converging nearby. O'Hare and Midway serve as major air cargo gateways. The Port of Chicago handles intermodal container traffic on the Great Lakes.
Being headquartered here means we're surrounded by the logistics operators, 3PLs, and shippers we serve. Our pilot customers are on the same freight lanes we can see from the window.
- #1 US rail freight hub by volume
- I-90/I-94/I-55 Tri-State Tollway convergence point
- O'Hare + Midway air cargo access
- Major intermodal / drayage market

We run a hands-on pilot: your actual stop data, our solver, a clear savings estimate. No sales engineering required.
